MARECIDADE: o Museu da Maré e a memória das favelas cariocas

The negative representations associated with the favelas evidently raised questions about the historical reflection about these places and, worse, silenced the memory of their residents. This article aims to analyze the formation of the Maré Museum. In addition to keeping memories, this Museum seeks to give new meaning to them, stimulating the critical view of the residents and visitors. The term marecidade expresses the notion that the memory residues raised by the Maré Museum bring a new city project, breaking dichotomies and oppositions in order to weave new urban utopias. Through interviews with six leaders, the article analyzes, firstly, the formation of a memory policy through the consolidation of social museology, then the process of formation of museums in favelas and, finally, the Museal do Museu da Maré and its political consequences. ; Las representaciones negativas asociadas a las favelas evidentemente cuestionaron la reflexión histórica sobre estos lugares y, peor aún, silenciaron la memoria de sus habitantes. Este artículo tiene como objetivo analizar la formación del Museo Maré. Además de guardar recuerdos, este Museo busca resignificarlos, estimulando la mirada crítica de los residentes y visitantes. El término marecidade expresa la noción de que los residuos de memoria planteados por el Museo de la Maré traen consigo un nuevo proyecto de ciudad, rompiendo dicotomías y oposiciones para tejer nuevas utopías urbanas.
