High costs and low demand pose a key challenge for hydrogen technologies in achieving significant market shares in the automotive industry. Numerous manual production steps in fuel cell production are considered to be the cause of high manufacturing costs. Economies of scale are to be used to reduce these costs. Systematic changes to existing production technologies will enable the accelerated use of economies of scale.
