      This work is aimed at discussing new approaches to teaching ethnic-racial education through capoeira, emphasizing how capoeira can help to comply with Law 10.639/2003 which makes the teaching of Afro-Brazilian History and Culture mandatory in schools. Elementary and Secondary Education of Public and Private Education Networks. The methodology used was based on the case study and new methodological approaches to ethnic-racial teaching, from the perspective of Afrocentricity, impacting the readings of some official documents such as LDB (1996) and Curriculum Guidelines (2004) for the application of anti-racist legislation (2003, 2004, 2012), as well as authors such as Pastinha (1988); Pires and Soares (2018); Schwarcz (1988), Asante (2009); João (2019), among others. It was theorized how capoeira can be used in the teaching of African and Afro-Brazilian history, as well as the teaching of capoeira can be associated with the practice of an ethnic-racial education in a human development that works with the body, culture and historicity. It was also found that capoeira at first was seen as a marginal practice and that it only appeared in police inquiries and in the penalties of police clerks, becoming a historical and cultural heritage of humanity. The results showed that the practice of capoeira can be associated through different strategies of school and non-school education. ; Este trabalho está voltado para a discussão a respeito das novas abordagens do ensino de educação étnico-racial através da capoeira, enfatizando como a capoeira pode auxiliar no cumprimento da Lei 10.639/2003 que torna obrigatório o ensino de História e Cultura AfroBrasileira nas escolas de Ensino Fundamental e Médio das Redes Públicas e particulares de ensino.
