      The aim of this research was to analyse the influence on school success of the social and educational environment in which Roma children develop. At present, there are educational centres in which Roma pupils are concentrated, and which are identified as having a high rate of absenteeism and school failure. Faced with this reality, the need arises to find out if this is really the main reason why the Roma people do not complete compulsory secondary education and, therefore, do not access post-compulsory studies. To carry out the work, the research focused on two types of samples within the Roma population; on the one hand, participants who have lived and spent their schooling in the Northern Zone of Alicante and, on the other hand, people who have studied outside the Preferential Action Neighbourhoods. Subsequently, and in a complementary manner, a Discussion Group was organised with socio-educational professionals who are currently working with pupils from the Northern Area of Alicante, thus gaining first-hand knowledge of the reality experienced in this area from another perspective. Once the results had been analysed, the conclusion was reached that the socio-educational environment of the Pueblo Calé does have an influence on academic success, and that one of the most important tools for favouring this school success is to establish the foundations in Early Childhood Education. ; La finalidad de esta investigación fue analizar la influencia en el éxito escolar, el entorno social y educativo en el que se desarrolla la infancia gitana. En la actualidad, existen centros educativos en los que se concentra alumnado Rrom, y los cuales se identifican por tener un alto índice de absentismo y fracaso escolar.
