Gender perspective in the characterization of professors in professional-level higher education institutions in the Orinoquia region ; Perspectiva de género en la caracterización de docentes de instituciones de educación superior a nivel profesional en la región de la Orinoquía

This study characterizes teachers in professional-level higher education in the Orinoquia region. To do so, data from the National System of Science, Technology and Innovation (SNCTI), the National Ministry of Education (MEN), and the National System of Higher Education Information (SNIES) from 2019 to 2020 were traced. These data were analyzed from a gender perspective in terms of level of education, teaching, and research. The methodology had a quantitative research design, and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques. The findings of the study highlight a greater presence of women in teaching in the region, and a feminization of careers. It was also found that men have a greater presence in hierarchical positions in higher education institutions, while women are underrepresented in research scenarios. In terms of interpretations and conclusions, the need to implement policies and strategies that promote gender equality in the field of teaching in the region is highlighted, especially with regard to promoting equal opportunities in access to hierarchical positions and in the production of scientific knowledge. ; Este estudio caracteriza las y los docentes de educación superior a nivel profesional en la región Orinoquía. Para ello, se rastrearon los datos del Sistema Nacional de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación (SNCTI), del Ministerio de Educación Nacional (MEN) y del Sistema Nacional de Información de la Educación Superior (SNIES) obtenidos entre los años 2019 y 2020. Estos, fueron analizados desde una perspectiva de género, en cuanto al nivel de estudios, docencia e investigación. La metodología tuvo un diseño de investigación cuantitativo, y los datos fueron analizados a través de técnicas estadísticas descriptivas.
