This research is directed towards the analysis and study of the ability of Jean Watson's theory to achieve desired outcomes in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nursing care. The general objective is to examine in depth the contributions and limitations that this theory brings to nursing practice in such specialised settings as the ICU, through a critical and systematic evaluation of the existing scientific literature.Specific objectives include: 1) Conducting a comprehensive analysis of scientific literature to identify and select previous research that has applied Jean Watson's Theory in ICU settings. 2) Critically analyzing the methodology employed in the selected studies, focusing on aspects such as research design, patient samples, outcome measures, and consistency in the application of Watson's Theory. 3) Systematically synthesizing and comparing the results of the reviewed studies, highlighting the specific contributions and limitations of applying Jean Watson's Theory in nursing care in the ICU. The research method involves a descriptive longitudinal literature review to analyze and synthesize relevant information on the study topic. Information selection was carried out through the application of specific filters in databases, facilitating the inclusion of articles published in scientific journals, as well as other documents available on internet search engines, based on defined criteria. Results highlight the current trend towards a humanized approach based on Watson's Theory.
