      Harvey Gantt gives a speech to children and adults at the YWCA in Winston-Salem. Gantt praises the YWCA, then discusses his platform, inlcuding: new ideas for working class families; communicating with children; how he grew up with four sisters and poor parents; valuing responsiblity of families and parents, hard work, and respect; education (federal involvement, funding early childhood development (Head Start), how education will save money in deliquency and crime and dropouts, making college more affordable, education to compete in 21st century job market); Jesse Helms takes money away from school lunches; the election is about who is willing to change and prepare for the future. A question and answer session follows. The questions are about pensions, Highly Academically Gifted program, gay marriage, welfare reform, balanced budget amendment, magnet schools.
