      Iron deficiency anemia, first cause of anemia in the world, is characterized by microcytic anemia. This is also typically indicative of colorectal cancer. It is therefore microcytic anemias must be explored by seeking primarily iron deficiency and its origin. Our study aims to assess the impact of a computer alert indicating the presence of microcytic anemia on the research and the exploration of iron deficiency. The study is a prepost retrospective study and compare two groups of patients aged over 50 years, with microcytic anemia during their hospitalization in medicine before and after the establishment of computer alert. The primary outcome was iron deficiency research which is determined by ferritin and soluble transferrin receptor measuring. Then the initiation of the digestive investigation in these patients was assessed. The study selected 160 patients before the alert, between March 2011 and February 2013, and 197 after the alert, between March 2013 and February 2015. Iron deficiency was more often sought after alert (73.6% against 50.6 %, p <0.05), however gastrointestinal exploration is not usually initiated. This study demonstrated that a simple computer alert improves search of iron deficiency among microcytic anemias. However, the only alert is inadequate to increase its exploration, especially digestive investigation, and has to be associated with a training of all medical actors. This training would improve biological tests and digestive exploration of iron deficiency anemia. ; L'anémie ferriprive, première cause d'anémie dans le monde, est caractérisée par une anémie microcytaire.
