İntrauterin büyüme geriliği olan olgularda göz bulguları

Purpose : We aimed to determine the ophthalmologic findings of the small for gestational age (SGA) children and to compare with appropiate for gestational age (AGA) children. Methods : We enrolled 47 SGA children who have been followed up at Ege University School of Medicine Pediatrics Department. Among the appropiate for gestational age children who have been followed up at the same department 31 age-matched subjects were selected as the control group. Birth weight and week of the children are noted. Associated systemic pathologies are also questioned. All subjects underwent complete ophthalmologic examination. Best corrected visual acuity (BCVA). cycloplegic refraction. kerathometry. axial length and binocular visual acuity values are noted. Results : Mean age of the study group was 10.24;plusmn;2.78 years (range 7 and 15 years). Mean birth week of the study group was 28;plusmn;0.58 weeks (range 38 and 41 weeks). There was not any statistically significant difference between the two groups regarding BCVA. cycloplegic refraction. keratometry. axial length and binocular visual acuity values. Anterior segment and fundus examinations were normal in both groups. There were 5 exophoric and 1 combined exophoric and hypertrophic children in the study group; in the control group there were 4 exophoric children. Conclusion : Our data revealed that SGA children are not associated with an increased rate of ocular and visual pathologies. ; Amaç : İntrauterin büyüme geriliği (İUBG) olan çocukların göz muayene bulgularını saptamayı ve normal doğum ağırlığı ve normal doğum haftasına sahip çocuklar ile karşılaştırmayı amaçladık.
