UNAF faces the diversification of family models ; L'UNAF face aux mutations de la famille

The National Union of Family Associations (UNAF) is a French institution that has the particularity of having been created by the legislator to structure the family movement and formally represent families to the public authorities, at all levels. Based on the studies done on the family movement, UNAF documents and interviews with some of its actors, the article attempts to analyze the emergence of an ideology, familialism, and its structuring in a dedicated apparatus. He studies how the diversification of family models has been taken into account by the legislator and incorporated by the UNAF even if it runs counter to his convictions. At each stage, despite the difficulties, the protagonists have been able to make compromises to integrate the changes while maintaining and developing the role of the family movement. Thus, the emergence of the theme of "parenthood" has given the opportunity to develop new activities and services. Even the frictions around the opening of marriage to same-sex couples have come to an end, with some of the more conservative family associations operating a spectacular refocus. But at a time of increasing individualisation of rights and when the public authorities have abandoned any familialist reference, is a new paradigm not emerging, in which the existence of a « families corporate group » has less and less meaning ? ; L’Union nationale des associations familiales (UNAF) est une institution française qui a pour particularité d’avoir été créée par le législateur pour structurer le mouvement familial et représenter officiellement les familles auprès des pouvoirs publics, à tous les niveaux.
