      This study has the central theme The influence of Literate Environment in the Process of Literacy, showing that reading and writing are the main tools for insertion in the world where students can communicate, access information, to express and defend their opinions. The aim of this study is to investigate the influences that occur in the learning of students who live in literate environment. The study corpus is developed by a theoretical framework implemented by Koch and Elias (2006 and 2009) on reading, writing and understanding; Freire (1982), about the importance of the act of reading; searches made by Emilia Ferreiro and Ana Teberosky (1999) on the psychogenesis of the written language, by kleimam (1999) and Smith (2006), among others. The survey consists of interviews and observations of classes held at the Municipal School Severino Alves Barbosa, located in the town of Sape PB. The studies have descriptively and analytically, from observations in the search field. The results showed that teaching practices of reading and writing the in the initial series, there have been a traditionalist form and renewed, in which the synthetic and analytical methods literacy prevail, resulting in a work that considers the language in its appearance partner interactional.
