نبذة مختصرة : A bedridden elderly female patient with right hemiparesis was admitted to Siriraj Hospital, Bangkok, Thailand, with acute pyelonephritis. Considering the patient’s history of frequent hospitalization, intravenous meropenem (2 g, every 8 h) was given empirically. An extended-spectrum -lactamase (ESBL)-producing Escherichia coli isolate was later isolated from her urine, and meropenem was continued for 10 days. . . .
