نبذة مختصرة : This study sought to highlight the actions taken to implement the Access Act to the information LAI and changes caused in document management in state public institutions, municipal and federal administrative sphere located in the municipality of Santa Maria. Institutions / government agencies selected for this study were the Municipality of Santa Maria, Registry Office and Deaths of Santa Maria Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), Defence Policy and Protection consumer-(PROCON) and the IRS. And it is intended also to examine whether, in addition to ensuring compliance with the law in force, there have been improvements in the management of documents for provision of access to information and measures conducive to the exercise of citizenship and / or encourage transparency in public institutions in the city. The methodology used was through interviews and questionnaires applied to those responsible for providing management and access in public institutions Santa Maria. The results of this study demonstrate the concern of the institutions and public agencies of Santa Maria, to implement the measures of access and transparency advocated by Law 12,527/11, in order to combat corruption and strengthen democracy in Brazil ; O presente estudo procurou evidenciar as ações desenvolvidas para a implementação da Lei de Acesso a Informação a LAI e mudanças causadas na gestão documental em instituições públicas estaduais, municipais e Federais da esfera administrativa localizadas no município de Santa Maria. As instituições/órgãos públicos selecionados para esta pesquisa foram Prefeitura Municipal de Santa Maria, Cartório de Registro e Óbitos de Santa Maria, Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM), Política de Defesa e Proteção ao Consumidor- (PROCON) e Receita Federal.
