The biospectroscopy allows the analysis of biofluids providing the complete characterization of all molecules present in the biological matrix. Among the spectroscopic techniques, molecular fluorescence stands out for its high analytical sensitivity in the broad identification of information obtained by the excitation-emission fluorescence matrix (EEM), allowing the specific measurement of fluorescent species in the sample. Breast cancer patients with polymorphic changes in the CYP2D6 gene show considerable variations in tamoxifen (TMX) bioavailability due to the need for bioactivation of this drug, therefore patients with such allelic changes have a negative impact on its prognosis. Quantification of TMX by fluorescence spectroscopy provides a phenotypic assessment of the patient's pharmacological metabolizing status, leading to a personalized and effective pharmacological therapy. According to the results obtained, molecular fluorescence was able to detect the fluorescent signals generated by the TMX structure in plasma solution by the internal standard methodology. Despite the signal interference due to the wide molecular variety present in this matrix, multivariate statistical algorithms allowed to extract relevant information from the analyte, improving the signal / noise of the emission-excitation matrix. Thus, the detection and quantification of TMX drug in blood plasma samples through spectrofluorimeter demonstrates the efficiency of this technique in the analysis of this drug in biological matrix, presenting low cost in instrumental acquisition and agility in execution, making it a great auxiliary strategy for personalized follow-up of patients in the clinical routine.
