      The profound changes in the world of work brought new challenges to education. Therefore, schools also need to change. It is necessary to consider the final objective of each teaching plan and assess whether the student has achieved this objective. Considering the methodological reality of dentistry teaching, where there are many institutions applying the traditional teaching model and at the other end the regulatory bodies applying assessments that measure the development of skills, it is necessary to verify the skills most developed by dentistry students during graduation in all regions of the country in the last ten years and whether there is a difference between public and private institutions. For the development of this study a considerable base was needed. Enade microdata provided by the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (INEP), data from the educational census and institutional information contained in e-MEC and institutional websites were used. Summary reports of each institution and each of the examination cycles included in the studied period were also used. For the assessment of competences, a classification system was created for the objective questions of the exams, where they were classified according to the evaluated competences and the area of Dentistry to which they refer. The data were subjected to statistical analysis and the results showed the comparison of the percentages of correct answers in ALL HEIs (Public and Private) resulted in pvalue = 0.0730 (not significant), therefore, there is no real difference in correct answers and development of Skills between public and private HEIs. We can also observe that there was an evolution in the averages of achievement in all regions between 2010 and 2019 with a greater evolution in the north region, becoming the region with the highest average of development of general competences and approaching the other regions in the development of specific competences. ; As profundas mudanças no mundo do trabalho trouxeram ...
