Femur fracture is the most common bone injury, causing significant restrictions to mobility and the ability to bear weight, which affects the population's quality of life. Fractures can result from both intense impacts and low-intensity forces. Symptoms include severe pain, noticeable shortening of the leg, and inability to move. This work aims to identify and describe the epidemiological profile of hospitalizations for femoral fractures in Brazil in 2023. This is a retrospective epidemiological study, which analyzed data from the SIH/SUS of the Ministry of Health on hospitalizations for femur fractures in Brazil in 2023 The data was analyzed by region, type of service, age, sex, color/race. The majority of care for femur fractures was urgent (83.23%). The most affected patients were elderly, especially those aged 80 years or over (29.18%). There was a higher proportion of women (51.18%) than men. Regarding color/race, the majority of patients were mixed race (52.72%). In this study, it was found that the incidence of interventions was more significant in female people of mixed race, aged over 80 years, who received emergency care and reside in the Southeast region.
