This work presents an interpretation of the pattern formed by the layout of the major avenues in the Central Sector of Goiânia – GO, within the territory of the state of Goiás in 1933. Its objective is to elucidate the relationships between this pattern and the shape of the state’s territory during that year, as well as to determine whether there are official records indicating that this significance reflects the intention of the city’s urban planner, Attílio Corrêa Lima, or if it is a social construction stemming from the concepts of spatial poetics and the city’s collective imagination. The study relies on a bibliographic review and comparison of geographic databases. It concludes that there are similarities between the layout and the geography of Goiás, but official documents verifying intentional design are lacking. On the other hand, it acknowledges that these and other interpretations exist despite the intentions of any urban planner for Goiânia, as the city is also a social creation of its inhabitants. ; Este trabajo presenta una interpretación de la figura formada por el trazado de las grandes avenidas del Sector Central de Goiânia- GO, el territorio del Estado de Goiás en 1933. Con el objetivo de señalar las relaciones entre esa figura y el formato que el territorio estatal tenía en aquel año, así como de constatar si hay registros oficiales de que este significado se trata de la intención del urbanista de la ciudad, Attílio Corrêa Lima, o se trata de una construcción social a partir de los conceptos de poética del espacio e imaginario de la ciudad. Recurre a la revisión bibliográfica y a la comparación de bases de datos geográficos. Concluye que existen semejanzas entre el trazado y el territorio goiano, pero que faltan documentos oficiales que comprueben que sean algo intencional.
