      This study aimed to understand the expressions of professors from the Technology in Fashion Design course (IFSul), when instigated to talk about their training, their experiences in the classroom and about the knowledge necessary to exercise teaching. Through this research, a path can be taken that provided a look at the experiences of these professionals, the challenges and difficulties they encountered in teaching, since their initial training does not qualify them to be teachers. There is a very strong conception that it is enough to master specific knowledge in the area of training and performance to be a university professor. Little emphasis is placed on the own and specific knowledge of teaching. Analyzing the responses of teachers in relation to their experiences in the classroom, their training, their knowledge, their conceptions in relation to specific and pedagogical knowledge led us to qualitative research with the data collected through semi-structured interviews.The discussion and interpretation of data, through content analysis, was supported by theoretical frameworks about university teaching and teacher training. The main authors who supported the study were Pimenta and Anastasiou (2002), Cunha (2003, 2006, 2010); Zabalza (2004), Marcelo García (1999), Masetto (2009) among others. It was possible to perceive, from the voices of the four interviewed intertwined with the theoretical framework, that despite the numerous challenges they are motivated to teach and believe that specific knowledge in the area meets the needs for their performance. We can conclude that these professionals become teachers in the involvement and responsibility with their classes, with their discoveries, with their challenges, with the relationship they establish with their students and with the reflections they make about their practices, without referring to the need for other knowledge to be a teacher. ; Este estudo buscou compreender as expressões de professores do curso de Tecnologia em Design de Moda (IFSul), quando ...
