نبذة مختصرة : This study intends to set recommendations which may serve as initial input in the development of a guide or a standardized procedure for forensic psychological or psychiatric assessments aimed at intimate partner violence (IPV) victims, compliant to the requirements of the national and international normativity, provided that, to the date, there isn’t a published Forensic Procedure by the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences in Colombia. The intimate partner violence (IPV) is a human reality and a public health issue. The data collected in scientific investigations shows that, regardless of the gender, IPV is a compound, bidirectional, heterogeneous, multi causal situation [1]. A descriptive research with retrospective qualities is settled, where the existent normativity is overhauled, along with the current explanatory approaches and the forensic attention in Colombia, complemented by the guide published across the region for forensic psychological and psychiatric assessments in the last ten years. It is advised after such review, to verify the existence of violence through the forensic-clinical interview and the correct management of the available evaluation instruments as a way to deem the congruence of the testimony against the information outlined in the literature about psychological violence, and asses if it means a thread for the physical or phycological integrity of the victim, appraising the potential repercussions to consequently determine the causality nexus.
