The aim. Determine and estimate the change of competitive activity indicators in women’s basketball at the Olympic Games. Research methods: 1. Scientific literature analysis 2. Document analysis 3. Statistical analysis Results. After the research was done, it became clear that Olympic champions during the entire time period averaged 90.4 ± 12.2 points per game. On the average they took 68 field goals per game, shot free throws with 74% accuracy. Teams were leading in all of the rebounding categories averaging 43.7 ± 6.1 rebounds per game. Assist averages throughout all of the Olympic competitions ranged from 12.3 to 27.9 assists per game. When comparing statistical indicator changes of the Olympic champions from the year 2000-2016, very significant changes in points per game, 2-point field goal percentage, 3-point shots attempted, assists, and rebounds were determined. The aim conclusion: 1. During the 2000-2016 timeframe competitive activity quantitative indicators of Olympic champions changed: points scored, assists, and number of distance shots attempted increased, other indicators changed inconsistently. The competitive activity indicators of second or third place winners of this time period changed inconsistently. 2. Qualitative indicators of Olympic champions and prizewinners changed inconsistently: for champions, the 2-point and 3-point field goal percentages increased, however, for teams that won second or third place these indicators had a tendency of decreasing. Free throw percentage changed inconsistently for all teams. 3. Comparing indicators of Olympic prizewinners a statistically significant difference of indicators was determined: Olympic champions score more points, make more 2-point shots, assists, and get more defensive rebounds (p<0.05) than teams getting lower places in the tournament.
