All of the antibiotics' box number, active substance, antibiotic group to which this active substance belongs and its formulations were recorded. Between 1 April 2001 and 30 July 2001, all of the medicines with prescription or without prescription in addition to antibiotics were recorded. The ratio of the prescriptions with antibiotics to the all prescriptions was found to be % 16.40 (1121 of 6832 prescriptions in total included antibiotics). The ratio of the prescriptions with antibiotics to all of the prescriptions was found to be in cost % 30.84. The cost of all prescriptions was 60439,43 US$ while the cost of all antibiotics was 18643,61 US$. Total cost of 43011 prescrçtions sold between 1 February and 31 Jury 2001 was 115611, 98 US$. The ratio of penicillin and its derivatives was found to be , 66 (55108,26 US$) in cost. The antibiotics that belong to macrolides group has the ratio of .01 (25452,91 US$), ranked second in the cost of antibiotics. The antibiotics that belong to cephalosporins group has the ratio of % 16.99 (19642,53 US$), ranked third in the cost of antibiotics. In outpatient therapy, oral formulations come first with the ratio of % 88.2 The ratio of parenteral group consisting of intravenous, intramuscular formulations was % 9.48 whereas the ratio of the topical formulations was % 2.19. The ratio of eye and ear drops was maximum among the topical formulations, and its share among total antibiotics was % 1.0.
