The integration between undergraduate and graduate students in the practice of nursing consultation to elderly

Objectives: to describe the integration of pupils in the practice of nursing consultation and understanding the significance of education to perform nursing consultation. Methodology: this is a qualitative study, from phenomenological approach, taking as reference the Comprehensive Sociology of Alfred Schütz, characterized in field research. As research subjects, undergraduate students and graduate students of the School of Nursing Aurora Afonso Costa, Universidade Federal Fluminense, aged between 21 and 30 years, during the traineeship in the first half of 2010. As the scenario lab practice Extension Program in Nursing for Health Care of the Elderly and Caregivers, located in Niterói / RJ, which takes place in consultation with nursing ambulatory elderly patients and their caregivers, considered a benchmark in customer service elderly with dementia. Results: the study found two categories described as: The interdisciplinarity of the actions and understand the meaning of nursing visits to the elderly. Conclusion: emphasized the importance of integration between undergraduate and graduate students, understanding the meaning of nursing consultation, resulting in the possibility of reflective attitudes of future nurses, the quality of the consultation to the elderly and their caregivers.
