      La exposición a metal(oid)es presentes en el material particulado atmosférico puede conllevar efectos negativos sobre la salud, principalmente de tipo respiratorio, cardiovascular y neurológico. Esta tesis doctoral aborda la evaluación de dicha exposición mediante un estudio transversal llevado a cabo en la bahía de Santander, una zona caracterizada por la cercanía a fuentes industriales de metal(oid)es, especialmente de manganeso (Mn). En la tesis se estudian las relaciones entre la concentración bioaccesible de Mn y otros metal(oid)es, tras su extracción en fluidos biológicos sintéticos de material particulado recogido mediante muestreadores personales, y sus niveles en matrices biológicas (biomonitorización), en particular en sangre total, en pelo del cuero cabelludo y uñas de las manos. ; Exposure to metal(loid)s bound to atmospheric particulate matter can lead to negative health effects, mainly respiratory, cardiovascular and neurological. This doctoral thesis aims at assessing such exposure by means of a cross-sectional study carried out in Santander Bay, an area characterized by the proximity to industrial sources of metal(loid)s, especially manganese (Mn). The thesis studies the relationships between the bioaccessible concentration of Mn and other metal(loid)s, after their extraction in synthetic biological fluids from particulate matter collected by personal samplers, and their levels in biological matrices (biomonitoring), in particular in whole blood, scalp hair and fingernails. ; Este trabajo ha sido financiado por MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 y "FEDER Una forma de hacer Europa” a través del proyecto titulado “Exposición ambiental a manganeso y otros metales contenidos en material particulado: bioaccesibilidad, biomonitorización, y su asociación con la función neurológica (BIONEUROMET)” CTM2017-82636-R.
