International audience ; Some 2300 years after its foundation, the Ptolemaic capital of Egypt continues to fascinate the Western world of today – no doubt due to mists of mystery which surround the myths associated with its name. Basing itself on the few conserved remains, virtual archeology is attempting now to recreate this ancient city whose splendors inspired nostalgia and melancholy in the poets of the XXth century. ; 2300 ans après sa fondation, la capitale de l’Égypte Ptolémaïque, Alexandrie, continue à fasciner l’Occident contemporain, sans doute à cause du parfum de mystère qui entoure les mythes attachés à son nom. A partir des rares vestiges conservés, l’archéologie virtuelle tente de redonner corps à la cité antique, dont la splendeur passée a nourri les évocations mélancoliques des poètes du XXe siècle.
