      This article aims to analyze how teachers have developed environmental education, aiming at making students more aware of it in their communities. The study was conducted in two public elementary schools located in the urban zone of the city of Canto do Buriti/PI. As theoretical framework, it considered authors such as Dias (2004), Reigota (2009), Cascino (1999), Moraes (1998), Andrade (2012), among others. Methodologically, semi-structured interviews with school managers and coordinators were conducted, and questionnaires with teachers, with open and closed questions, were applied. In the interpretation of the data collected through the instruments used in the research, the study concluded that it is necessary to intensify the programs of qualification of teachers from these schools, aiming at a constant increasing of their knowledge regarding this issue, in order to promote in students a change of behavior capable of transforming them in disseminators of environmental-conservation ideas that the planet needs so much. ; Este trabajo tuvo como objetivo investigar como profesores han desarrollado la educación ambiental, con vistas a concienciar su comunidad de estudiantes. El estudio investigó dos escuelas públicas primarias de la red del estado en la zona urbana de la ciudad de Canto do Buriti/PI. Como fundamento teórico, se utilizaron autores como Dias (2004), Reigota (2009), Cascino (1999), Moraes (1998), Andrade (2012), entre otros. Metodológicamente, entrevistas semiestructuradas con gestores y coordinadores fueron realizadas, y cuestionarios con preguntas abiertas y cerradas fueron aplicados con profesores. En la interpretación de los datos obtenidos a través de los instrumentos usados en la investigación, fue concluido que es necesario intensificar los programas de calificación de los profesores de las unidades de educación investigadas, teniendo como objetivo una mejora constante de sus conocimientos cuánto a esta cuestión, para promover en estudiantes un cambio de comportamiento capaz de hacerlos ...
