نبذة مختصرة : To identify the knowledge and the time of exposure to occupational hazards of personnel assigned to the operating room in an open population hospital. Methods: A descriptive, transversal and prolective study. Inclusion criteria: Personnel with more than two years working in the operating room. Non-probabilistic and consecutive sampling, N = 140 people. An anonymous questionnaire was designed that consisted of two areas: the first one with 14 questions, with the score of: 0-5 correct hits = unknown, 6-10 correct hits = little known, 11 or more correct hits = yes they do. The second area consisted of 22 questions with the days of exposure: 25 days to more and not exposed. A pilot test was applied and reliability was obtained with Cronbach’s alpha of 0.71 Data collection was performed over a period of three months. Results: It is not very significant the lack of knowledge of the servers in the surgical area; It was found that 55.7% are exposed to biological risks, to physical risks 66.4%, to chemical risks 58.6%, in terms of ergonomic risks standing work occupied 60.7% and sitting during the day 80.0%. As for psychological risks, workers are submitted to work stress at 61.4%. Conclusions: The lack of knowledge coupled with exposure time increases the risk of suffering from occupational disease.
