Objective: analyze the impact of the scientific production of researchers at the Aggeu Magalhães Institute (IAM/Fiocruz), a public S&T Institution, linked to the Ministry of Health (MS), in the years 2019 and 2020. Methodology: This is an exploratory study with a qualitative and quantitative approach and a case study. To analyze scientific production, a search was conducted for articles indexed in the Web of Science and Google Scholar databases and registered in the Institutional Repository (ARCA/Fiocruz). The sample included 46 senior researchers in public health at the IAM, producing 469 journal articles, extracted using the ScriptLattes tool on the Lattes CNPq platform. Results: The study analyzed and presented the impact of production based on metric indicators, and investigated whether scientific information is registered and accessible for the generation of new knowledge and for the evaluation of science. The main results were that the national Google Scholar database had the highest number of indexed articles and the greatest impact. Another finding was the increase in scientific production (articles) registered in the ARCA Repository in 2020, which had an impact on the increase in citations, despite the Repository having the lowest percentage of registrations in the years under study compared to the other databases. Conclusion: the need for self-archiving and compliance with the mandatory policy for depositing articles in the IR (ARCA) became clear.
