نبذة مختصرة : Introduction. Studying the quality of life in the rural population can indicate the way forward to close the gap of inequities in health. Objective. To describe the quality of life of the inhabitants of a rural area affected by the Colombian armed conflict, with the World Health Organization's Quality of Life questionnaire in its abbreviated version in Spanish (WHOQOL-BREF). Methodology. A cross-sectional observational study in a rural population of legal age, by convenience sampling through house-to-house sweeping and covering the entire geographical area. The calculation of the WHOQOL-BREF scores was performed in SPSS 26.0®, and the statistical analysis of the population characterization variables was performed in CIETmap 2.2.18®. Results. The averages of the physical health, social relations, and psychological health dimensions were around 70; while the environment dimension exhibited a notably lower average. In the four dimensions, high averages were obtained in people who are young, have higher educational levels, and have paid work; in contrast to the low averages observed in people with morbidities, unsatisfied basic needs, forced displacement, and violent loss of a family member in the first or second degree. Conclusions. There is an imperative for intersectoral action that includes health in all policies, which together with social participation promotes the mitigation of inequalities in health by addressing its determinants, and in solving the priority needs of rural and rural dispersed populations, especially those affected by the armed conflict. ; Introducción.
