      This research is the result of a methodology centered on literary literacy that sought to embrace and also broaden the literary taste expressed by young readers from 14 to 18 years old, IFSul students, Pelotas Campus. In order to broaden the reading community, the Reading Diaries project was created, which was maintained from 2013 to 2016. From this pedagogical project, carried out in Portuguese Language and Literature classes, 464 copies of Reading Diaries were created. which were produced by the participating students from literary works divided into two models: works freely chosen by them and also by readings guided by the teacher, according to the pertinent components of the school curriculum. In 2015, this pedagogical proposal turned into a PhD research that sought to study the literary reception of these adolescent students, in order to ascertain how the students approached the literary texts, becoming or not co-authors of these texts. To support this proposed analysis, I used the theory of Aesthetics of Reception, weighing the proposals of Jauss (1994) and Iser (1996,1999). Considering, therefore, the horizons of readers' expectations, I analyzed their preferences for authors and works, their relations with mass culture and canonical works, in order to investigate the criteria used by young readers to define their literary choices. I also considered the renewal (or not) of these readers' perceptions of literary texts to verify whether or not there was a change in the horizon of expectations of these readers. For comparative purposes, considering reading practices, age group of readers and the most widely read titles in Brazil, this study was based on data released by the 4th edition of the Portraits of Reading survey in Brazil. Finally, to analyze the cognitive categories of readers, I used the concepts of the area of Semiotics of Lucia Santaella (2014).
