Entre islam et théories du complot, idéations religieuses et identités sur YouTube

The result of exploratory research, this article studies the islamic-conspiratorial syncretism present on the YouTube video sharing platform via the “decodings” of the music of a PNL rapper duo carried out by the YouTuber Killuminaty. On the one hand, this paper is based on a complete retranscription of the videos (N=11), as well as their montage, as well as on a compilation of screen shots of their commentary sections and, on the other hand, on ethnographic observations gathered in following the channel “KILLUMINATY SMG OFFICIEL” over a one year period. The intersection between analysis of the discourse, analysis of the iconography, the positioning as com­pared to traditional sources of islam and the history of messianic-apocalyptical literature allows us to identify the particular position of the speaker in the debate on the ad­missibility of music in islam, as well as the nature and topicality of these “new” online video-products, whereas the compilation of commentaries posted on the aforementio­ned videos as well as the videos posted “in response” tells us things about their consumption.
