"Escusan®" is a combined preparation based on the extract of Aesculus hippocastanum L. seeds and containing thiamine (vitamin B1). The effectiveness of "Escusan®" has been reliably confirmed in a number of experimental studies in vitro and in vivo. In particular, anti-edematous, anti-inflammatory and venotonic effects of the drug have been proven. "Escusan®" improves the flow of calcium ions into the channels of smooth muscle cells of the vascular wall, which leads to an increase in venous vascular tone. The anti-inflammatory effect of "Escusan®" is associated with the blockade of the release of prostaglandin F2 (PGF2) from the venous wall, antagonism with 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) and histamine, and a decrease in the catabolism of tissue mucopolysaccharides. Conclusion: "Escusan®" has a pluripotent effect on various pathogenetic mechanisms of chronic venous diseases. It is easy to take, which allows the drug to be widely used in patients with chronic venous diseases.
