      Video games have emerged as a powerful versatile educational tool that may significantly impact student’s learning. When integrated appropriately and balanced into the educational environment, video games have the potential to make learning, a more engaging, interactive, and effective process for students of all ages. The purpose of this investigative work was to develop a children's video game of the legends of the city of Riobamba, using the DREAMS platform as a gamification method for the teaching and learning process of fifth-grade students at San Mateo school. The video game complies with clear and concrete functions, characteristics, and concepts, with a great capacity to be understood by the target audience, thanks to the implementation of the SUM development methodology, which provides different phases that allow the developer to define and structure activities, managing the possible risks that may arise through them. It has five main phases: planning, preparation, beta, closure, and risk management. Finally, to know if the video game meets the established standards and determine if it can effectively be used as a teaching method, it is evaluated. The validity of the framework was verified with the application of different parameters suggested by the Likert scale, obtaining high satisfaction and positive criteria from its use. ; Los videojuegos han emergido como una poderosa herramienta educativa versátil que puede tener un impacto significativo en el aprendizaje de los estudiantes.
