The Gazeta das Damas (1822) and the ambiguous status of female citizenship in the 1st half of the 19th century ; A Gazeta das Damas (1822) e o estatuto ambíguo da cidadania feminina na 1ª metade do século XIX

The present article proposes to reflect, based on a case study, a periodical from 1822 aimed at the female audience – Gazeta das Damas by Caetano António de Lemos – on a topic that has only superficially interested the historiography of the early stages of the Portuguese liberalism, that is, to what extent the rupture that took place in the 20th century (1820-1823) gave women greater public visibility, adding them, albeit discreet, to citizenship and leading society to question their place in it. ; O presente artigo propõe-se refletir, a partir de um estudo de caso, um periódico de 1822 dirigido ao público feminino – a Gazeta das Damas de Caetano António de Lemos – sobre um tema que só muito superficialmente tem interessado à historiografia das fases iniciais do Liberalismo português, isto é, em que medida a rutura que se operou no triénio vintista (1820-1823) deu às mulheres uma maior visibilidade pública, trazendo-as, ainda que de forma discreta, para a vida cívica e levando a sociedade a questionar o seu lugar nela.
