Enabling Social Work Students to learn about Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) – a case study and the story so far!

Jo Strang, previously a Staff Tutor and recently recruited as Health and Social Care Lecturer (Children and Young People) within the school of Health, Wellbeing and Social Care (HWSC) presented the progress of her research as a Professional Doctorate student so far. Jo is an experienced social worker and social work educator, who is also qualified as a reflexologist and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) practitioner. This presentation shares findings from the literature review around the broad mental health needs of university students and social work students and explain how EFT will be introduced to students in an online small group setting to see if it might be beneficial as a self-help tool for managing experiences of stress, anxiety, overwhelm and a range of other emotions. As a qualitative researcher, interested in student experiences and stories, Jo will share her story so far as an insider/outsider researcher.
