Sentido do trabalho para enfermeiros do âmbito hospitalar ; The meaning of the work for nurse in the hospital scope

Work in recent years has become a significant activity in the lives of individuals, being a factor of social integration and personal fulfillment, as it influences the quality of life, being an activity that makes sense to those who perform it. The study aimed to know the meaning of work for nurses at the university hospital. The present research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach, involving 50 nurses, who had at least one year of work in the research institution. The research was submitted to the Ethics and Research Committee, meeting all the requirements set forth in Resolution 466/2012. The data were collected from March to July 2018 and the interruption of the collection was performed when the participants' reflections about the object of study were exhausted. The instrument for data collection was the use of an interview composed by the characterization of the profile of the participants and nine open questions, aimed at understanding the meaning of the work assigned by the nurses. The ninth question was to apply the technique of cut and paste with comic books, which after analyzed and treated gave rise to an article. The data treatment of the interviews was analyzed by means of a software called Interface for Multidimensional Analysis of Texts and Questionnaires 0.7 alpha 2. The analysis of the data of the technique of clipping and collage with comic books and the results coming from Interface software of R for Multidimensionnal Analyzes of Textes and Questionnaires were analyzed according to the content analysis. Three categories of analysis emerged: a) the daily work of nurses in the hospital - evidenced that nursing activities became praxis because they were developed in the hospital environment, because they followed norms, which are pre-established by the institution; b) motivation at work as a factor influencing the meaning of work - the meaning of work was intertwined with motivation, commitment, recognition, having a satisfactory relationship with the nursing team and the ...
