Presente una regione anteriore portante cheliceri e pedipalpi, detta gnatosoma, e un tronco, detto podosoma, con quattro paia di zampe. Gli Argasidae sono anche detti zecche molli, perché ricoperte da un tegumento chitinoso, sprovvisto di scudo dorsale.
