نبذة مختصرة : [EN] Despite the widespread awareness of the need to renew ways in which to facilitate learning, the role of the teacher in the teaching-learning process and the development of competences in higher education, there are still disciplines that find it difficult to adapt to the new models of teaching and educational innovation. The Law Degree, in many aspects, is a clear example, since lectures and memorization still prevail. For all the above, especially when it comes to introductory subjects, it is of great importance to ensure a good understanding of the specialized and technical language (in our case the legal language or terminology) that will accompany students not only throughout their studies, but also throughout their professional careers. This need and challenge is even more pressing when it comes to subjects taught in English, because along with the difficulty inherent in legal jargon we add the difficulty of equivalence between Common Law and Civil Law systems (in our case, the sui generis system of EU Law and its distinct legal-administrative terminology). This paper focuses on the use of crossword puzzles as a teaching methodology in the Law classrooms and as a learning strategy to contribute in legal English learning. In this light, the present paper is based on a pilot experience during one first-year subject of the Law Degree, with a High Academic Performance (ARA), group taught in English.
