نبذة مختصرة : Geostatistika je metodologija u analizi prostorno koreliranih podataka čije je glavno obilježje upotreba variograma kao i tehnika za kvantificiranje i modeliranje prostornih odnosa podataka. Geostatistika je grana primijenjene statistike koja primjenjuje teorije determinističke procjene. Tradicionalno se koristi u geoznanostima. Variogram je jedan od osnovnih geostatističkih alata. Variogram prikazuje strukturu slučajnog polja koji može ovisiti samo o udaljenosti između dviju mjernih točaka i razlici vrijednosti među njima. Modeli i interpretacije temeljene na geostatističkim metodama često se rade pomoću računalnih programa.
