      The article deals with non-verbal means of future English teachers’ communication that have not been researched complexly. Non-verbal communicative components have become the subject of a linguistic research since the sixties of the twentieth century. Then linguistics went beyond the verbal system. Non-verbal communicative components have the ability of the identification of the speakers’ social and communicative status. The article emphasizes the role of non-verbal communication as a bridge between the language and human communicative capacities. It evaluaties the problem of non-verbal communication with reference to modern linguistic analysis. The article reveals the significance of non-verbal features for the adequate interpretation of the English language discourse. There are different types of non-verbal communication, because they are produced and perceived by different sensory systems, but attention is given to оptical kinesic system – visual contact, face expression and body gestures. Gestures as expressive hand movements are the most common non-verbal signs, which are used by university students of linguistic departments. It has been analysed the main components of non-verbal communication and examined the types of non-verbal means of communication which are used by the students at practical classes while communicating in English. The attention is concentrated on the necessity of studying the national peculiarities of the use of non-verbal means in the foreign language for intercultural communication. It is necessary to develop the ability of understanding these non-verbal signals. That is why university tutors have to organize practical classes in the way their students obtain profound theoretical knowledge and practical skills on non-verbal communication in order they will be able to interprete non-verbal information.
