Desemprego no Brasil: uma análise dos impactos na saúde mental dos trabalhadores

This study aimed to verify whether a relationship is observed between unemployment and the deterioration of mental health status of workers who are unemployed in the Brazilian labor market, considering the data collected by the National Health Survey of the year 2019 (PNS 2019) were used and, through a logistic regression model, we sought to identify if there is a higher prevalence of self-reported depression in the group of unemployed individuals in the labor market. In addition, we investigated whether mental health status is heterogeneous for different population subgroups, characterized by labor market status, gender, age group, educational level, marital status, and mental health history. We found robust evidence of a direct relationship between unemployment and the likelihood of depression: the group of unemployed individuals are more vulnerable to all levels of depression. However, the results showed no significant association between unemployment and self-perceived physical and mental health. The unemployed, women, younger individuals, and those with lower levels of education were identified as more vulnerable to the prevalence of inferred depression. ; Este estudo teve como objetivo verificar se é observada uma relação entre o desemprego e a deterioração do estado de saúde mental dos trabalhadores que se encontram desocupados no mercado de trabalho brasileiro, diante dos dados coletados pela Pesquisa Nacional de Saúde do ano de 2019 (PNS 2019). Por meio do modelo estatístico logit, buscou-se identificar se há maior prevalência de depressão autorreferida no grupo de indivíduos desocupados no mercado de trabalho.
