      There is growing evidence linking emotion regulation problems to certain dark personality traits. Some of these traits include narcissism (entitlement, superiority, and dominance), psychopathy (callousness, impulsivity, and interpersonal antagonism), Machiavellianism (charm and manipulativeness), and Sadism (enjoying the suffering of others), forming the now-called Dark Tetrad. One aspect worth considering is how individuals with high levels of psychopathic traits approach emotions. Motivation could be one explanation for why individuals have different emotional goals. The present study aims to deepen understanding of the role of emotional regulation in antagonistic personality traits by investigating how emotion motives and goals contribute to emotional regulation dysfunctions. ...
