نبذة مختصرة : The increase in obstetrical nursing has been observed through public policy incentives and these consolidate the expansion of nursing activities, as well as qualified assistance based on humanization. This study aimed to demonstrate the significance of nurses' performance in humanized care throughout the parturition process, in the hospital context. The study consists of a narrative review of the literature, with a theoretical approach. Searches were carried out in the Lilacs database, Medline, and the database and search for scientific material were also used independently. It is noteworthy that the humanized assistance during labor provided by the nurse in the hospital environment guarantees the woman's autonomy during the process of giving birth, as well as the guarantee of good health practices. Therefore, following evidence-based recommendations will contribute to achieving a humanized delivery, as many of the interventions are unnecessary for the delivery process. Thus, humanizing childbirth does not only mean doing or not having a vaginal delivery, it means making the woman the hero of the moment and not just a mere spectator, giving her freedom and autonomy in the processes that involve choices and decision-making. There are still barriers that need to be overcome for the implementation of humanized obstetric care, such as hospital procedures, structure and information for patients who still believe in the need for medical interventions during childbirth. ; El aumento de la enfermería obstétrica se ha observado a través de incentivos de política pública y estos consolidan la expansión de las actividades de enfermería, así como la asistencia calificada basada en la humanización.
