A par da natureza de direito fundamental, o direito ao conhecimento das origens caracteriza-se como um verdadeiro e próprio direito de personalidade por visar a tutela de bens jurídicos intrínsecos à pessoa humana e essenciais ao desenvolvimento da personalidade individual enquanto direito concretizador dos direitos à integridade e à identidade pessoais e ao livre desenvolvimento da personalidade, direitos fundamentais e de personalidade que têm como fundamento último a dignidade da pessoa humana. De facto, estes direitos fundamentais assumem,em concomitância com a natureza jusfundamental, o carácter de direitos de personalidade, consubstanciando direitos subjetivos absolutos oponíveis erga omnes. ; In addition to being a fundamental right, the right to know one's origins is characterized as a true and proper right of personality because it aims at the protection of legal goods intrinsic to the human person and essential to the development of individual personality as a right that concretizes the rights to personal integrity and identity and to the free development of personality, fundamental and personality rights which have as their ultimate foundation the dignity of the human person.
