      This present Dissertation of Master's degree it accomplishes a historical approach of the discipline of Mathematics starting from the documental analysis of text books, interfering in the field of the History of the Education. The defined temporary cutting for analysis, delimited the work in the period from 1943 to 1995. The initial date considers the reorganization of the teaching in Brazil, with the gymnasial course fastened in four years. The final mark considered the promulgation of LDB 9394/96, that brought with itself new proposed of organization curricular and wider public politics in relation to the text books than possibly they have influenced the edition of those printed papers. Twelve text books of the period were examined, that compose like this three collections identified: Collection A - Elements of Mathematics of Jácomo Stávale, Collection B - Mathematics Modern Course of Osvaldo Sangiorgi and Collection C - Mathematics of Scipione di Pierro Neto, in search of elements that allowed to elaborate possible answers to the research "subject which changes and/or permanences come in the text books of Mathematics in the period from 1943 to 1995"? The study had as objectives to rescue the different mathematics present in the text books; to understand the course of the Mathematics in the fundamental school; to look for determinants of the changes/permanences that interfered curriculum in that period. With base in different theoretical referential, this study tries to look for the mathematical currents that guided the elaboration of those text books, with your origins and unfoldings in the publications to the teaching of Mathematics.
