Summary (Abstract): Schizophrenia is a psychiatric disorder that affects approximately 1% of the general population. People with schizophrenia (PWS) neglect their health management, and are particularly susceptible to physical health problems. Impaired oral health is partly caused by “body denial”, and is aggravated by the side effects of treatments and poor hygiene habits which combine. Mental disorders are accompanied by addictions to tobacco, alcohol and / or psychoactive substances (cannabis) contributing to poor oral health. Furthermore, the symptoms of schizophrenia interfere with the resources of these people to cope with stressful situations and to implement effective coping strategies to address them. Understanding these different elements is essential for the medical team in order to best help better assist the PWS in mastering self-care skills during treatment, and to optimize the management of their oral health.Objectifs: This research work explores critical coping strategies implemented by PWS related to oral health, and aims to develop a patient specific “coping scale” in oral health. The ultimate goal of this research is to identify areas (dimensions) to help PWS actively manage. health. The thematic textual content analysis of the corpus allowed to generate items likely to belong to the final questionnaire, to bring out the essential dimensions, and then to select items ...
