Nativos, veranistas e turistas: identidades, mudança e deslocamento sócio cultural no Litoral Norte da Bahia

Em anos recentes a vida dos habitantes tradicionais do Litoral Norte da Bahia tem experimentado alterações sociais, ambientais e econômicas relacionadas à expansão de atividades turísticas. No presente artigo examinam-se as conseqüências destas atividades na área, com ênfase nos conflitos entre os interesses reais das populações tradicionalmente estabelecidas e as propostas de desenvolvimento turístico, renovado sob o rótulo de "turismo sustentável". Interessa questionar como este conflito se reflete sobre as identidades culturais das populações envolvidas, em dois períodos distintos, e de que maneira a introdução de novos atores sociais na cena, representados pelos turistas, vem provocando o deslocamento dos residentes tradicionais, como resultado da novas ordens econômica e social que se estabeleceram naquelas comunidades. ; ln recent years the life of lhe traditional inhabitants of the Northern Litoral of Bahia has experienced increasing social, environmental and economic change in connection with tourist activity. ln this article we examine the consequences of these activities in the area, with particular emphasis on the conflicts among the real interests of the local populations who have been traditionally established in the area and the intentions of tourist development, renewed under the label of sustainable tourism. It is our interest to question how thisconflict has affected the cultural identities of the population, in two different periods, and how has the introduction of new social actors to the scene, represented by the tourists, has been dislocating the tradilional residents, as a result of the new economic and social orders that have been established in those communities
