      61 páginas ; Summary: (1) Assessment in healthcare education, especially in clinical practice, has been a contentious and sometimes ineffective aspect. The authors sought to answer: ¿What trends have been identified in research on the understanding of assessment in the education of healthcare professionals? And what is the purpose of this article? The purpose of this literature review is to deepen our understanding of assessment in the field of healthcare in order to improve the quality of education, overcome barriers, identify effective approaches, and provide guidance to all individuals involved in this educational process. (2) A bibliographic review was conducted, and the analysis was performed in two heuristic and hermeneutic phases. (3) Articles were grouped into four categories based on information similarity and article focus: assessment and learning, assessment tools, formative assessment, and competencies and curriculum. (4) Assessment plays a crucial role in healthcare education by measuring knowledge, identifying strengths and weaknesses, promoting reflection and critical thinking, and developing essential skills. The importance of formative assessment and alignment with learning objectives is emphasized. Current research focuses on formative assessment, clinical competencies, competency-based assessment, and learning outcomes. The need for profound curriculum changes, teacher qualification in assessment competencies, and the development of validated assessment tools is underscored.
