Colombia is the country with the third largest amount of water in the world, yet13.8 million inhabitants do not have access to drinking water. Currently in Villa del Rosario (Norte de Santander, Colombia), there is a high level of urban development due to the need for housing in the region, but the existing aqueduct infrastructure has significant shortcomings that do not guarantee continuity in the provision of service. The service is provided on average twice a week, and the improvement actions to solve this problem are planned for the medium and long term due to the economic investment required to provide fundamental solutions. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate alternatives for reusing and saving water as a short-term solution to reduce consumption and ensure that the stored volume can last for more days. The basic consumption of a house was analyzed by measuring the volume spent in daily activities, where it was determined that the critical appliances in which water saving and reuse alternatives can be implemented by using them as gray water are the washing machine, the toilet and the shower; resulting in a reduction of the average monthly consumption of a house between 10-13 m3 for a 2000 L storage tank. This probably allows extending the time without drinking water from the public water supply by six days. ; Colombia es el tercer país con mayor cantidad de agua en el mundo, pese a esto, 13.8 millones de habitantes no tienen acceso al agua potable.
