The periodontitis are the affections with most incidence on the small animal veterinary clinic, corresponding to about 85% of affected animals. Actually, there are few products avaliable in the market that can combat the microorganisms that cause these oral pathologies. Thus, this academical work sought to evaluate in vitro the effectiveness of three compounds with antiseptic activities described in the literature, chlorhexidine gluconate (CHX), essentials oils (EO), chlorine dioxide (CLO2). The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of each antiseptic was evaluated through the technique of microdilution in tubes, fulfilled in three times, in order to evaluate the concentrations capable of inhibiting microbial activity in samples. Under division of two microorganisms groups: gram positive and gram negatives. Data evaluation was performed using analysis of variance, being the results submitted to the Tukey test with significance level p(<0,05%). So with the EO, it was observed the inhibation of bacterial growth in the samples at all active ingredient concentrations and dilutions; The chlorhexidine presented the second best response compared to EO in negative grams, however, when tested in positive grams, obtained bacterial inhibition ability at all samples and tested dilutions; and the chlorine dioxide was the smallest compound with antimicrobial activities at all times and concentrations. Thereby, through in vitro tests, it was possible to observe that the compounds used present different antimicrobian potencials each other, varying as the bacterian group used in the research. Additionally, it was possible to note that the class of microorganisms with the most incidence in the gum and periodontal area of dogs and cats was gram negative bacteria in the collected samples. ; Nenhuma ; As periodontites são as afecções de maior incidência na clínica veterinária de pequenos animais, correspondendo a cerca de 85% de animais afetados. Atualmente, são poucos os produtos disponíveis no mercado capazes de combater os ...
