      The League of Civic Education from Bahia, group of civil society which aims was to promote civic-patriotic campaigns in the capital of the state, elaborated and circulated a series of quite real discourses and practices of intervention in education, especially aimed at children’s school audience and its main agentes, the teachers. The objective of this work is to investigate these initiatives, in order to perceive the formation of an imaginary around the school, which associated it with an ideology of patriotism when the brazilian First Republic. For the purposes of the proposed study, we substantiate our understanding about the meaning of civic education on the formulations by Joaquim Ângela de Castro Gomes (2009) and Pintassilgo (2013), associated with the theory of diffusion of nationalist ideas built by Benedict Anderson (2008) and Eric Hobsbawm (1990). The interpretation of historical sources was guided by the principles of discourse analyses by Michel Foucault (1996) and your research, selection and analytical link were constructed under the evidentiary paradigm by Carlo Ginzburg (1989). Examining the documents showed that under a civic-patriotic rhetoric, the League of Civic Education legitimized an imaginary of intervention tn the school under the defense of the nation, suppressing, several times, possibilities of free exercise of teaching – context that can help us to understand educational phenomena of our time. ; La Liga de Educacíon Cívica de Bahia, un grupo de la sociedad civil destinado a promover campañas cívico-patrióticas en la capital del estado, elaboró y difundió una serie de discursos y prácticas de intervención en la educacíon muy concretas, especialmente dirigidas al público infantil escolar y sus principales agentes, los maestros.
